A Bit About Putter
Putter is a sweet, affectionate, and incredibly people-focused boy who really just wants to be close to his person. He had a polite approach to the tester and, although he was a little thrown off by the unfamiliar surroundings, his tail was still wagging and he quickly showed that he wanted to interact and play. Once given the opportunity, he was happiest being held and settling into the tester’s lap. He has a very natural “lap dog” personality and clearly values human connection and affection.
Putter also showed excellent human focus and a strong desire to please. He consistently stuck with the tester throughout the evaluation and was very eager to participate and do what was being asked of him. He chose to work through the objects and obstacles on his own, but remained connected to the tester rather than wandering off to do his own thing. His motivation and people orientation should make him a very enjoyable puppy to train, especially for a family that wants a dog who genuinely wants to work with them.
While he did have some whining when he was unsure of his surroundings, he recovered well and did not allow that uncertainty to keep him from engaging. His resilience was strong, and overall he was fairly bomb-proof and adaptable once he understood that he was safe. His combination of confidence, high human focus, affection, and eagerness to please makes him a really lovely, balanced companion prospect.
Best Fit for Putter
Putter would be an excellent fit for a family looking for a devoted, affectionate companion who wants to be involved in everything they do. He would especially shine in a home that enjoys cuddling, training, playing, and having their dog right alongside them. He has the personality of a true people dog—he wants the interaction, wants to please, and is happiest when he has a human to connect with. I could easily see him being the type of dog who follows his family from room to room and happily curls up in their lap whenever given the chance.
May Not be the Best Fit for Putter
Putter may not be the best fit for someone looking for a very independent or aloof dog who is perfectly content doing his own thing. His strong human focus means he really enjoys being with his people and may prefer connection and reassurance over independence. He may also need a little patience during the first few moments in a brand-new environment, as he can be vocal when he isn’t quite sure what is happening. Once he settles in, though, his confidence, resilience, and willingness to please really shine through.
