A Bit About Chip
Chip is a polite, people-focused boy with a really lovely balance of confidence and mellow energy. He showed immediate interest in the tester and was eager to interact, play with toys, and chase the ball. Even with distractions, he maintained a strong connection with the tester and readily came back when called. He also really enjoyed being held and stayed very underfoot throughout the evaluation, showing that he values being close to his person and naturally seeks out human interaction.
One of Chip’s standout qualities was his motivation and willingness to work with his person. He conquered the obstacles despite his small size and didn’t let the challenges of the test intimidate him. He was fairly confident in his approach to new things and seemed happy to take on whatever was asked of him. His tester connection was difficult to break, which is a wonderful quality for a puppy who will be learning and training with his family. He has that nice combination of wanting to explore and play while still keeping his person at the center of his attention.
Chip also showed a very steady and resilient temperament. His energy was mellow and easygoing, but he still had enough drive and curiosity to engage with the challenges of the test. He enjoyed affection and being held without becoming overly dependent on it, and he handled the different aspects of the evaluation with very little concern. Overall, he came across as a fairly “bomb-proof” puppy—confident enough to tackle new experiences, people-oriented enough to stay connected, and mellow enough to settle when the excitement is over.
Best Fit for Chip
Chip would be an excellent fit for a family looking for a sweet, versatile companion who can be both playful and laid-back. He would do well with a family that wants a dog who enjoys playing, learning, and participating in activities but can also settle and snuggle afterward. His strong human focus and willingness to come back to his person even when something fun is happening make him especially appealing for a family that wants a very connected, responsive dog. I could easily see him thriving in an active family while still being perfectly happy being the household cuddle buddy.
May Not be the Best Fit for Chip
Chip may not be the best fit for someone looking for a very independent puppy who prefers to do his own thing. He has a strong desire to stay connected to his person and tends to remain close and underfoot, so his family should expect him to want to be involved in whatever they’re doing. He’ll likely thrive most with people who enjoy having a dog that wants to follow them around, participate, and be part of the family rather than one who is content being left to entertain himself.
