A Bit About Topper
Topper is a confident, friendly, and exceptionally easygoing boy with a naturally calm presence. He entered the new surroundings confidently and took his time calmly scoping out the environment rather than feeling overwhelmed by it. He had a polite approach to the tester, with a happy demeanor and plenty of tail wags. He clearly enjoyed human interaction, especially an ear scratch, and quickly showed that he was comfortable and happy to engage.

Topper has a wonderfully mellow temperament while still being willing to participate. He completed some of the obstacles on his own free will, showing that he is curious and capable without feeling like he needs to rush into everything. He didn’t need a lot of encouragement to feel comfortable in the environment, and he remained relaxed throughout the test. His ability to calmly observe and then choose to engage is a really nice quality for an everyday companion.

One of Topper’s biggest strengths is his overall stability and resilience. He handled the test with very little concern and was completely comfortable with being handled. When picked up, he melted right into being held, showing a lovely combination of confidence and affection. His profile is one that I would describe as very “bomb proof” he is confident without being pushy, affectionate without being overly demanding, and playful without having a frantic energy.
Best Fit for Topper
Topper would be an excellent fit for a family looking for a calm, confident, affectionate companion. He would be especially well suited to a family who wants a dog that can comfortably go along with their lifestyle without being easily rattled by new experiences. His mellow energy would make him a lovely household companion, while his confidence and willingness to engage mean he can still participate in adventures, activities, and training. He has that really nice “go with the flow” quality that makes a dog easy to live with.
May Not be the Best Fit for Topper
Topper may not be the best match for someone specifically looking for a high-energy, constantly-on-the-go dog who needs to be doing something all day. His strength is his mellow, steady nature, and he seems perfectly content to calmly take in his surroundings and enjoy affection rather than needing constant stimulation. For a family wanting a more relaxed, easygoing dog with a confident and stable personality, however, I think he is a fantastic match.
